Business Development Manager

Delta Controls Inc. is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our USA based Sales Team. The Business Development Manager (BDM) will prospect, formulate solutions, propose and close new opportunities with major accounts on a nation-wide basis.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) plans, directs, and controls the sales of Delta Controls product and/or services on a national basis with national organizations and large end user clients or market segment, and also develops new pull-through business. The successful candidate can be based from any location in the US that is near a major airport.

  • Develops relative sales objectives, plans, programs, and budgets.
  • Directs sales operations through a combination of direct sales activities to key stakeholder customer groups and through the sales arm of Delta Controls independent distributor network.
  • Generates new business through the promotion of Delta Controls products.
  • Prospects for new owner-direct, national account opportunities.  Develops the relationships with the client and closes opportunities resulting in new business.  
  • Participate in major sales presentations to key stakeholder groups- can be in the presence of the Partner or not. May involve joint target selling with Delta Partners or Delta Group Business Units.
  • Represent Delta in National or targeted market trade shows.
  • May review and evaluate client specifications and coordinate in-house resources to satisfy client needs.
  • Review system layout and system applications during the sales process.
  • Vertical market definition and development of business development initiatives for same.
  • Candidate will be responsible for forecasting, quoting and closing long-term projects with multiple accounts. 
  • Regularly communicate with the management team regarding opportunities in play, forecasts and current sales progress using our CRM system and sales reporting tools.
 
 

Buyer
Location Surrey, BC, Canada
The Buyer will be responsible for purchasing, reviewing material requirements, maintaining component level planning details, inventory management and supplier management. This is a full-time, permanent position to start as soon as possible.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of materials and suppliers to ensure that both Production, Partner and Project objectives are met.
  • Negotiate best achievable material pricing and payment/delivery terms.
  • Ensure that purchases of all components are of high quality.
  • Create RFQ packages for required materials or source special materials when necessary.
  • Support the design and implementation of a Supplier Performance Management System.
  • Participate in a supplier selection process, including participation in supplier audits and ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Proactively communicate potential issues and interruptions in supply.
  • Identify new or alternate sources of supply, including both onshore and offshore possibilities, targeting lower end to end cost of supply and alignment with long-term supply chain strategies.
  • Work in a team environment to optimize supplier quality, on-time delivery, lead time and cost.
  • Work with other functional areas across the organization to solve any issues related to material supply, quality and including discrepancies against orders or invoices.
  • Be a key interface from Supply Chain to support the Quality Management System and Certifications.
  • Support the periodic review and updating of all policies, procedures, and work instructions related to procurement and ensure they reflect current practices.

Co-Op Junior Mechanical Designer
Location Surrey, BC, Canada
We are looking for a Co-Op student to join the Delta Controls team in January for eight months. The Junior Mechanical Designer is trained in Mechanical design and works with a Senior Mechanical Designer and Electrical Hardware Designer to create the mechanical components to a product.

This position is a Co-Op role, starting in January, ideally for eight months. The Junior Mechanical Designer is expected to assist the Senior Mechanical Designers in:

  • Prototyping
  • Investigations into modelling
  • Performing measurements to assist in completion of designs
  • Completing designs
  • Basic testing of new or existing hardware projects
  • Assisting Test Jig designs
  • Maintenance of existing Mechanical designs and drawings
  • Perform all work in accordance with established procedures and guidelines as described in the Product Development Process.

 

Research and Design

  • Assist in research of new technology relevant to product directions.
  • Assist in a technical analysis of proposed designs when requested.
  • Assist in the generation of accurate Bill Of Materials for products and the different variations.
  • Assist in the generation of conceptual 3D model designs
  • Assist in the creation of detailed 3D model designs
  • Generation of 2D control drawings
  • Assistance in the preparation of die cut and artwork for labels
  • Liaison with electrical hardware designer to ensure design criteria is met

Quality and Testing

  • Perform preliminary product testing.
  • Create a test plan for any new product designs.
  • Assist in the creation of quality test procedures for new product designs and existing products.
  • Ensure all design and implementations are reviewed by the supervising senior hardware designer or QA hardware specialist.
  • Assist in reviewing other mechanical designer’s work against requirements and quality standards.
  • Analyze product failures or issues and contribute to the resolution of these issues.

Documentation

  • Assist in the production of preliminary product documentation to communicate designs to other hardware designers, firmware developers, QA hardware specialists and manufacturing.

The Junior Mechanical Designer has the authority to:

  • Make and suggest changes or improvements to mechanical design

Co-Op Students - Jr. Hardware Designer

Delta Controls Inc. is looking for a Co-Op student for the Fall semester (September - December) who will work with one of out Senior Hardware Designers on our Sensor Hub II project. The Jr. Hardware Designer is expected to be able to design, prototype, research, and perform validation testing of new or existing hardware projects under the supervision of a Senior Hardware Designer.

The Jr. Hardware Designer is entry level position intended to train an individual into a fully competent Hardware Designer

The Jr. Hardware Designer is expected to be able to design, prototype, research, and perform validation testing of new or existing hardware projects under the supervision of a Senior Hardware Designer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with hardware projects including the design, planning and scheduling in accordance with established procedures and guidelines as described in the Product Development.

Component Engineer

The Component Engineer is responsible for maintaining approved components, usage, cost reduction and lifecycle management. The Component Engineer will provide support for component selection, qualification, and lifecycle management for both off-the-shelf and custom electronic and mechanical components.

  • Minimizing the impact of part obsolescence and unavailability by proactively identifying, testing, and qualifying alternate components.

Product Manager

Delta Controls is hiring a Product Manager to fill an opening at our organization. This would be an external-facing role based on creating, launching, and supporting the sales of product solutions.
  • Develop and maintain overall product plans for the assigned product platforms.  This requires a thorough review and analysis of market needs, trends, and other data procured from Product Strategists.
  • Evaluation of product vision and scope to define high level and detailed requirements for product implementation. This will require the Product Manager to interview user groups, meet with customers and develop use cases.
  • Analysis of incoming feature requests, bug reports, and customer needs.
  • Coordinate with other business units to ensure system architectural compatibility and efficiency of development.
  • Work with the development team to ensure adherence to product vision and scope throughout development cycle.

Delta Controls is looking for Production Workers for our Surrey, BC office (Cloverdale/Langley border). This is a full-time, permanent position to start ASAP.

Production Workers work in different areas of Delta Controls manufacturing department, the initial focus of this position will be in Final Assembly. Production Workers are trained in multiple areas and from time to time may be moved to another department. Production Workers duties will change due to experience, training and ability. This is a full-time, permanent positions to start as soon as possible. The selected candidates will have a minimum of three years' experience in the Building Services Technology/Building Automation Systems industry. The main responsibilities will be to provide direct technical support to the Sales Team in the advancement of existing and potential clients with primary focus on our National Accounts.

As a Sales Engineer, or Technical Sales Representative, the focus of this role will be to provide technical sales knowledge on Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Delta products. They will provide direct support to the Sales Team in the advancement of existing and potential clients with primary focus on National Accounts, which purchase products and services directly from Delta Corporate, as well as National Accounts that purchase through the Delta Partnership channel.  This role will coordinate between departmental/LOB teams within Delta, liaise with Delta Electronics, engage with Delta Partners and other external contacts accordingly to handle prospective business leads, sales inquiries, and technical proposals and ensure customer satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Customer Accounts and BDM’s with pricing and prepare project-specific or application specific quotations for them accordingly. Customer accounts may also include Delta Partners during the National accounts ramp-up period.
  • Assist Customer Accounts and BDM’s with commercial and technical queries, including RFP responses and specification reviews (noting how we do/do not comply). Customer accounts may also include Delta Partners during the National accounts ramp-up period.
  • Assist Sales Team with specification review/writing to gain competitive advantages in their market(s).
  • Provide BDM’s with support for target National Account presentations. This will typically be PowerPoint slides and technical materials, but may include remote product presentations through varying communication channels.
  • Provide Distributors with sales ideas and strategies to utilize DE products to further grow their businesses and generate revenue for DCI.
  • Collect and distribute competitive information to assist Distributors’ efforts in your market(s).
  • Coordinate between Product Management, Orders Team, and various DE Contacts to ensure that the purchase and delivery of DE Product meets Distributors’ requirements, both generally as well as for specific projects.
  • Match incoming PO or contracts against existing quotations and investigate discrepancies as required.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date CAD and USD Product Price Lists.
  • Monitor and respond to email correspondence and phone calls, including the Inside Sales phone line, and assist with general inquiries or appoint as necessary.
  • Redirect End Users to their local Partner, or investigate further if necessary (i.e. contact existing Partners within the region to determine original installer, or current Owner of building / project in question).
  • Monitor and filter incoming leads.
  • Liaise between Partner and RMA on advance replacements and software upgrades.
  • Attend monthly GoTo Sales Meetings, as well as Webinar tutorials on new products released.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Partners.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
